My Struggle with Ducati

Tuesday, 02 February 2016 | Written by  |
Team... I do not know where to start. As many of you know, I have been a Ducati Owner for exactly one year now. The experience has been extremely poor. I have gone through two bikes, in an effort to fix the first bikes problems. Let's dive right in.

In Jan of 2015 I purchased my first brand new motorcycle. It was a 2013 Ducati Hypermotard. New in crate, they cracked it open and got it ready for me. If you've been a subscriber for at least a year, you'll see the videos of it's delivery. Due to our weather, I was only able to ride it come April. My first ride lasted about 35 minutes with a catastrophic breakdown at 168KM.

at 3300KM:

5) BRAKE ROTOR FRONT (x2)

7) BRAK PAD FRONT (x2)
8) SIDE TANK FAIRING (WARPED)

10) SPARK PLUG (x2)

3900KM: Same as first faliure. Bike was returned to the dealer. At 3400KM, this bike has had over $10,000 dollars in warranty repair. This is NOT an uncommon issue. There are multiple '13 hypers that are just lemons.

Moving along, I was able to get rid of that bike with the help of my local Ducati store, Bowcycle North. I got into a 2015 Hypermotard SP. This thing has been more reliable, but still without problems and still leaving me stranded. The SP's issues have been: Front Break Rotors and Pads, Starter Motor, Horizontal O2 sensor, Vertical O2 Sensor, real LED tail-light replaced and now a dashboard and control buttons all are not working. At the time of posting, the error is unknown at this point. My latest video has been posted regarding this issue where it just turns off the headlight, dashboard and more.

The bike has been in the shop once a month. It's expensive to get to and from the Dealer as it is so far away from me here (1 hour drive, each way) and with no other mode of transportation out here, it leaves me twirling my thumbs. The problem I have come into now with Ducati is due to my online presence. They pretend to want to be more involved due to the videos and the negative effect they have on their brand. They want to talk about the bikes issues before I rant online about them, which makes sense. Maybe we can work together and turn the relationship upside and create positive content. At the end of the day, the bike is a great bike, invokes emotions and feelings in me and people who sit on it, ask about it, and drool over it. The problem is, they do not take it seriously still! Recently I have received an e-mail from Ducati's Customer Service Manager saying he'll follow up with me later that day. Did he? No. My patience is only so thin, and as a result my latest anti-Ducati video was posted. You can watch it here: HERE
